On the heels of Presidents’ Day here in the US, the vintage team developed a bit of theme around gold. As Laurie Sprague’s Weekend Edition highlighted, our US presidents have been drawn to the precious yellow metal be it Vulcain Crickets or Rolex Day-Dates. 1970s Tag Heuer Carrera ‘Ferrari’ Ref. 1158CHN Replica Watches In 18k Yellow Gold

18k gold Carreras are really a juxtaposition in the metal. Being a big fan of vintage Heuer, I am used to looking at the brand’s creations from the 1960s and ’70s as true tool best copy watches. While beauty is certainly there in each design, the watches were meant to be used with legibility front-of-mind and usability considered at every step. In this watch, I can see those same principles at play with black sub-registers against the champagne dial and the precise graduation of the minute track due to the lack of a running seconds hand. That being said, the unnecessary luster and opulence of the solid gold case seem so anti-vintage Heuer to me.

My confusion is exactly why the 1158CHN is such great replica watches for sale. The gold model was reportedly created in an attempt to position Heuer higher in the overall watch market. To me, this Carrera is Heuer’s ultimate flex. After investing to create the caliber 11 automatic chronograph, what better way to show it off than this? Rumored as being Jack Heuer’s favorite Carrera, what we know for sure is that the man himself presented these luxury super clone watches to Scuderia Ferrari drivers such as Nikki Lauda and Mario Andretti throughout the 1970s. Heuer provided the Ferrari team with timekeeping equipment for use in Formula One and endurance racing from 1971 to 1979, this partnership, of course, included the drivers. The single piece of “timekeeping equipment” given to drivers? That’s right, a 1158CHN Carrera. Photos of the drivers, dressed in their Ferrari red racing suits emblazoned with a Heuer patch, strolling the paddock, have made this watch all the more legendary.

Coming from the family of the original owner, this particular ref. 1158CHN is about as good as you are going to get. Fitted to its presumably original Heuer black Corfam strap with a gold-plated “sun” buckle, the cheap replica watches has seen very little wear – we are supremely confident in calling it unpolished. I have grown attached to the watch in the short time we have held it here in the office, I can’t think of a vintage watch we have sold that I like more than this one. If you are in the market for this reference, this is the one. I just cannot find a flaw.

There’s not too much to get excited about the ‘quartz crisis’ if you’re a mechanical watch enthusiast, but there are a couple of silver lining pieces out there.
